A facsimile of the 1909 edition. In this reprint of the original, the author (Alfred Searcy), a customs officer who, for fourteen years was stationed at Port Darwin in the Northern Territory, led an adventurous life in the 1880s.

This book of his recollections, tells of hard work, adventures by land and sea, of 'moving accidents', and 'hair-breadth escapes', of buffalo and crocodile hunting, the natives, Chinese, and the history of the early settlements etc.

Included in this publication of historical memoirs, are numerous photographs, and several maps, including a large fold-out map showing the coast and rivers of the Northern Territory.
