This work is a detailed examination of the complicated genealogical, historical, and legal problems involved with settling the rightful ownership of the Earldom of Lennox, a region also known as the Sheriffdom of Dunbarton.

The Earldom of Lennox's very date of creation is in dispute, but it is thought to be in the 12th or 13th century. It descended in a direct line until the 14th century, when it was inherited by one or another of three daughters, two of whom were married to Stewarts and the third into the Menteith family. The resolution of the dispute over the Earldom and the honors which it carried with it continued into the early 19th century and involved claims by the families of Haldane, Napier, Hamilton, Menteith, and others as to its rightful possessor.

This CD consists of scans of the original book, which can be browsed, enlarged and printed if required. Please note: it is not searchable.
