Written by William Lees in 1899, the 'Goldfields of Queensland 1855 to 1899' includes special articles on the mineral fields of Chillagoe, Cloncurry and Copperfield.

In it the author has attempted to give "an historical, geological, and descriptive account of the mineral resources of the colony". Apart from general chapters on the Queensland Department of Mines, Queensland Approximate Gold Yield and a list of localities in Queensland where silver, tin, copper, and other metals and precious stones have been unearthed, the book concentrates on individual fields with comprehensive information on each.

It covers fields at Gympie, Rockhampton, Crocodile Creek, Mount Usher, Mount Morgan, Clermont, Copperfield, Charters Towers, Chillagoe, Herberton, Hodgkinson, Croydon, Etheridge, Gladstone District, Eidsvold, Mackay, Bowen, Ravenswood, Mulgrave, Russell, Jordan, Palmer, Starke and many other smaller fields. Included are numerous photographs of people and places as well as 30 maps and plans.

This CD contains high quality scanned images of the original book, and has been bookmarked for easy navigation. Pages can be searched, browsed, enlarged and printed out if required.
