'For Generations Yet Unborn: The History of the Jamieson Family 1747-1978' was written by Kingsley Ireland in 1978 to preserve some of the history of the Jamieson family ancestry. It is a history of Alexander Jamieson 1816-1912 and his wife Janet née Gilmour with separate sections devoted to each of their children – Margaret, James, Agnes, Andrew Wilson, Alexander, Agnes, Matthew, William and Jane Jamieson.

The book gives a comprehensive history of the family in Stewarton, Ayrshire, their journey from Glasgow to Adelaide and thence to Gumeracha in 1854, and the life of Alexander and Janet and that of their children in South Australia. Of special interest are the series of letters Alexander’s father, James, wrote to his son from Stewarton – 41 in total, spanning from March 1854 to the last written just a few weeks before he died in May 1865.

The book includes two supplements and a family tree update covering 1978-1986. The first supplement was written by Eric Jamieson on the reunion held at Gumeracha on 2 April 1978, the second on the Jamieson and Gilmour families in Scotland compiled by Alan Jamieson in 1981-82.

This CD contains high quality scanned images of the original book, and has been bookmarked for easy navigation. Pages can be searched, browsed, enlarged and printed out if required.
