WYNYARD, on the river Inglis, a township and port of entry, money-order office, and telegraph station, in the county and electorate of Wellington, police district of Emu Bay, 114 miles distant from Launceston, NW., and 247 miles from Hobart Town, NW., with a population of about 230 persons. There are places of worship for members of the Church of England, Roman Catholic Church, a public school, a. public library and assembly rooms, and two hotels --the Court-house and the Commercial. Population of district, 900. In the neighbourhood is a large saw-mill, belonging to Messrs. Moore and Quiggin.

The Directory and Business Guide portion of the Handbook is a comprehensive listing of importers, exporters and shippers. For the importers and exporters it lists their name, address and what they trade (pictures and picture frames, oak carvings, oleographs, billiard tables, agricultural instruments, lighthouse apparatus, cricketing materials and more) - exporters from England and Scotland and importers throughout Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.
