Now available to own - your very own set of the Yorkshire 1861 Census, which comes as a set of 26 CDs. It contains images of the census books digitised from the microfilm. Where missing pages or poor images have been detected additional images taken from the books have been added.
Link to indexes to browse the areas and streets where your ancestors possibly lived. The CD set covers the whole of Yorkshire (all Ridings), as it appears on the 1861 Census fiche (please note: this doesn't necessarily correspond to county boundaries). Features of the CD set are: the ability to magnify an area to see further detail, print the current page, alphabetic street index, and searchable area indexes. A full list of areas covered by the county of Yorkshire are in the PRO Class List.
The final product allows you to own a compact and fast method of accessing the Census. No more expensive research trips, no more thumbing your way through thousands of fiche.
