This work is only intended to record the construction details of steam ad motor ships lost in the waters of the coast of New South Wales during the first century of such incidents, 1836 to 1936, and does not pretend to give more than basic details of the loss. The ships are listed in alphabetical order.
Readers interested in any particular ship/s can do no better than consult the contemporary press for information concerning the type of cargo (if any) and the supposed exact location of the remains.
Official returns seldom, if ever, mention these details and the whereabouts of any official documents is difficult to locate, apart from the official register of the ship, and that material is included in the following pages.
