| War memorials are of interest to a wide range of people. Family historians may be able to identify their ancestors from them: local historian use them to trace local participation in war; they could provide useful information to enable military buffs to fill in the history of particular regiments. Then there is also an interest in them as works of art. This interest is demonstrated by the extraordinary number of web site devoted to war memorials, which it is the purpose of this book to list. The prime aim has been to identify web pages which provide names, and which relate to a particular locality. Sites which are merely photographic; without names, are excluded, as are sites dealing with overseas memorials. This book lists web pages rather than web site, since some sites include numerous pages relating to many different places. Due to the sheer number of web site/pages, the compiler has split England and Wales into two volumes. Volume 1 covering Southern England, The Marches and Wales, and Volume 2 covering The Midlands, Northern England and East Anglia (Item number RAY005). Arrangement is by county and place, with some general sites listed in the first chapter, and, where necessary, at the beginning of each county chapter.
