This publication contains nearly 800,000 index entries representing over 300,000
marriages registered in Victoria from 1921 to 1942. The searchable fields
include the family and given names of both parties to the marriage, the event
year and the registration number.
In addition, this index also contains
records between 1921 and 1938 held in the Marriage Registers of the Victorian
Registry of Births, Death and Marriages that have been cancelled for various
reasons; re-registered in later years than the year of the marriage event; and
late registration where the marriage record was not sent into the Registry until
some years after the event.
The CD-ROM is easy to use, and has on 'online' help if needed. The database
uses the widely acclaimed Digger software, which is fully compatible with
Windows 95 and above, Macintosh and DOS systems. The software is dedicated to
database searches, and these are conducted with great speed. It can also do
other incredible searches:
- Reverse Truncation: *Donnell retrieves entries such as O'Donnell,
McDonnell and MacDonnell etc.
- Soundex Searching: Like Myer retrieves entries such as Meyer, Mier etc.
- Field Re-Sorting: All fields in a Results List may be reorders. For
example a listing of a Surname could be resorted in order of the Place
