One of the earliest attempts to provide a national directory, this work provides information about the cities, towns and principal villages within England and Wales. The work consists of detailed descriptions of each location most with lists of the principle traders and residents along with a wealth of additional information that brings to life the world in which people lived at the end of the 18th century.
One and a half volumes are dedicated to the London, Westminister and Southwark area including directories of traders, nobility, the law profession and London streets. It also provides a complete listing of the members of London's livery companies.
