historical and statistical account of the cities, corporate and market towns,
parishes and townships in England.
Arranged in alphabetical order, the information contained in this dictionary
includes such things as: the distance of the town from London, the population
according to the 1831 census, a historical summary of the place, descriptions of
the local environment, scientific and literary institutions, commerce, trade and
manufactures, ecclesiastical and religious establishments, present income and
much more.
Also included are the seals of several cities, corporate towns, universities
and colleges.
