The full title of this book is "The Scottish Gael or, Celtic Manners, as Preserved Among the Highlanders: Being an Historical and Descriptive Account of the Inhabitants, Antiquities, and National Peculiarities of Scotland, More Particularly of the Northern or Gaelic Parts of the Country" written by James Logan, and originally published 1831.
This 2 volume classic work surveys the entirety of Highland culture, including chapters on war and military tactics; dress, costume, arms, and military accoutrements; food; poetry and music; religion; and much else relating to the Celtic world at the beginning of the 19th century. It includes an interesting section on marriage and funeral ceremonies, and the like. An essential work for any student of the Highlands.
