This work seeks to trace the genealogy and history of the principal
branches of the Moodie or Mudie family, who first settled in
Forfarshire and later in Fifeshire, and finally in Orkney. It provides
an extensive account of the Moodies of Melsetter (Hoy Island, Shetland)
and continues with histories of those of that name living in and out of
Britain. This is followed by histories of the Mudies of Muir, Moodies
of Cocklaw, and Blairhill, and Mudie of Bryanton, Gilchorn, Pitmuir,
Balkelie, Kinnettles, Scotstoun, Courthill, and Arbekie, as well as the
Moodies of Masterton, and the Mudies of Dundee. The material is both
genealogical and historical.
