WHAT IS POCKET GENEALOGIST?
'Pocket Genealogist' is a genealogy program runs on your PDA (Personal Digital Assistant). It uses the information that you have typed into your desktop or laptop computer genealogy program, and this is copied into the Pocket Genealogist program, which you can then view. Pocket Genealogist is the leader in genealogy software for Pocket PC's and other Windows powered mobile devices. Now you can take your genealogy data with you in your pocket! No more laptops or bulky notebooks! The program is supplied as a download program only, and you do need a PDA to run this program.

WHAT IS A 'PDA' OR SMARTPHONE?
The many uses and tasks of a basic PDA include: calculator, clock and calendar, address book, computer games, spreadsheets, word processor, store photographs, record notes, voice recording ... plus portable genealogy data files ... and more. Some allow you to access the Internet, as well as send and receive emails, use as a radio, and use as a camera ... Now in this never-ending technology fuelled world we live in, we have mobile phones called Smartphones, which do all of the above, as well as being a mobile phone as well!

HOW ARE THESE USEFUL FOR THE GENEALOGIST?
How many times have you been out somewhere and wished you had your 'tree' with you to check certain details while you're out? Using a PDA or Smartphone together with Pocket Genealogist you can have your family tree at your fingertips at all times. Apart from recording all of your contacts (which is always useful), a PDA and Pocket Genealogist allows you to take the information you have on your desktop computer genealogy program with you wherever you go. So rather than lugging notebooks and/or a laptop around, the answer is a PDA or Smartphone.

Some New Features in Pocket Genealogist Version 3.32 ------------------------------------------------------

 - Device/Desktop:   Support for RootsMagic 4. ('Direct' import requires Pocket Genealogist 'Advanced')
 - Desktop:  New GenBridge module which greatly improves the FTM 2008 and 2009 imports with the PAF/FTM Add-on. (Note that large FTM 2009 databases can be significantly slower than older versions of FTM)
 - Desktop:  Added support for Multimedia imports for FTM 2006 and older with the PAF/FTM Add-on.  (Multimedia support requires 'Advanced' version of Pocket Genealogist)
 - Desktop:  Added a new 'Check for Update' option which can be used to check the NHS website for program updates.   
 - Desktop:  Removed support for "Direct" imports of The Master Genealogist Version 4.

- Device/Desktop:  Support for Legacy Version 7.0.0.76.  You must re-import/sync your Legacy databases.
 - Desktop:  Support for Family Tree Maker 2009.
 - Desktop:  Better support for image imports with GEDCOM's created with DISGEN 8.
 - Device/Desktop:  Update to Norwegian and Swedish language translations.

Some New Features in Pocket Genealogist Version 3.21 ------------------------------------------------------

 - Device/Desktop: Fix to "Direct" RootsMagic import and display of birth/death dates on 3-gen and other views.  (this error was introduced with 3.20)
 - Desktop: Initial support for "PhpGedView" GEDCOM Import profile. 
 - Device: Support for Smartphones (non-touchscreen) with 320x320, 400x240 and 440x240 screens.  Also PocketPC's or Smartphones (touchscreen) with 240x400 and 480x800 screens.   Pocket Genealogist is not yet "optimized" for these resolutions (There will be wasted space on the screens), but the program will run.  We will add better support on request.
 - Desktop: Change to GEDCOM import to work with GEDCOM files that have inconsistent line end sequences.  (Rare Situation, this has only been reported a half dozen times over the last 9 years)
 - Device/Desktop: Danish and Portuguese update.

 - "Research Lists" - to group Individuals, Families, Sources or Repositories into a list of your choosing
 - Redesigned the desktop interface for Pocket Genealogist. The main screen now shows all databases you have created and allows you to select one from the list to do imports/exports/synchronizations, etc.
 - More support for Windows Mobile 5 devices
  - Increased the maximum # of records per "Table" to 393216
 - now supports Smartphones

2. In addition to the automatic acknowledgment of your online order you will receive a Registration Code and download instructions by email within a short time during normal business hours (Monday to Friday, South Australian time)
3. Go to the download page to download the Pocket Genealogist (to your main computer). You may do this before getting your registration code.
4. Install the Pocket Genealogist on your main Windows computer and Pocket PC.
5. Enter your Registration Code to register and unlock the Pocket Genealogist.
