This is a detailed genealogical and historical account of a distinctive
line within Clan Donald descended from Alasdair Carrach, first Chief of
Keppoch and the third and youngest son of the first Lord of the Isles
by his wife, Lady Margaret Stewart, daughter of King Robert II. Each
chief is surveyed in detail down to Donald, the 21st Chief in the late
19th century. There is an enormous body of genealogical and historical
information here relating to the chiefs, their families and
descendants, clan arms, badges, laments, tartan, and other distinctive
aspects of this particular line.
