Under licence from the South Australian Government, the South Australian Genealogy and Heraldry Society has prepared new resources amounting to 86,748 marriage registration entries for the period 1917 to 1937. The data was extracted from the registrations by Society members.
The microfiche index comprises a set of 35 microfiche. The first fiche of the set contains explanatory and supplementary information. This includes noted on giving features of registrations and policies adopted in the recording of data and the indexing of entries, and some general background information which may assist researchers.
The 86,748 entries in the index of registration are contained on the remaining 34 fiche. Both the groom and bride entries contain all the index data and there are 5523 cross-reference entries where the bride or groom's surname differs from the spelling of the father's surname.
The information provided:
- surname and given names, age and marital status of the groom and bride
- fathers names of groom and bride
- date, and place of marriage
- registration district and registration book and page reference numbers
- explanatory and supplementary information is also provided
The set is accompanied by a printed sheet for easy reference during use. This contains some of the above explanatory information, including the District abbreviation and the symbol codes used.
