The South Australia Genealogy and Heraldry Society has prepared new resources amounting to 141,371 marriage registration entries up to 1916. All three publications (books, microfiche and CD-ROM) contain the same data, albeit presented differently in accordance with the particular medium. The information provided:
- surname and given names, age and marital status of the groom and bride
- fathers names of groom and bride
- date, and place of marriage
- registration district and registration book and page reference numbers
- explanatory and supplementary information is also provided
The book version of the index, comprising 5 volumes with a total of about 2188 pages will occupy about 14cm of shelf space. It has 292,468 indexed entries. Groom entries give all the index data, bride entries give a cross reference to the appropriate groom. In addition there are about 10,000 cross reference entries where the bride or groom's surname differs from the spelling of the father's surname. There are twelve pages of supplementary and explanatory information at the beginning of each volume.
