Remember the days when Peter's ice-cream was 'the health food of a nation'
and when rosy-cheeked young Australians were 'happy little Vegemites'?
"Signs of the Times" recalls the magnificence of historic Australian
advertising signs, posters and marketing ephemera, with more than 300
photographs of classic images from across Australia.
Comprising photographs sources from historical archives as well as from
author Geoff Hocking's own extensive collection, this unique array of
advertisements ranges from faded painted walls, beer labels with long-forgotten
designs and enamel metal signs to a kaleidoscpoe of tins and collectibles.
Geoff Hocking has been a collectors of ephemera, old signs and photographs
for more than 30 years. His own collection began at the age of 16 when he
souvenired his first metal sign, a Mobil flying red horse.
