Description

Compiled by the Richard Torrance, and published by the Scottish Genealogy Society, this is another title along the lines of their Scottish Monumental Inscriptions Pre-1855 Series, however this one goes beyond 1855.

This volume brings together the monumental inscription to be found in four kirkyards, one long disused kirkyard, and one private burial ground, all located in North East Midlothian: namely Duddington, Inveresk, Liberton, Newton, Newton Old and Greendykes Burial Ground. All inscriptions within these cemeteries have been recorded in full, as well as maps drawn of each burial ground with a number coinicing with each gravestone, so you can see where each is situated.

In addition to the transcripts of the monumental inscriptions, the 1694 poll tax records for Duddingston, Inveresk and Liberton have been included, those for Newton no longer exist.
