This volume in Scottish Genealogy Society's series of monumental
inscriptions, covers the North Leith, New North Leith and South Leith
churchyards.
Some monuments from these churchyards were transcribed in 1960s, the rest
were done so in 2004. The recording of these is so vitally important,
particularly with the North Leith cemetery, where nearly one third of them have
since been lost to vandalism, this makes for an invaluable record of this burial
ground.
Although most titles in this series list the burials
from 1855 onwards, this one actually lists some burials from the 1600s, 1700s
and early 1800s as well.
Each burial ground has a map with all the graves numbered. Each entry has the
full transcription on the headstone.
A valuable source of information for those whose ancestors died in
this region of Scotland.
