Finally released, the "Queensland Federation Index" contains nearly 730,000 entries of births, deaths and marriages registered in Queensland between 1890 and 1914.
It allows you to search for births, deaths and marriages registered in Queensland between the years of 1890 and 1914. This information can then be used to help you apply for copies of registrations. The index can also assist in the compilation of family histories, to accurately identify births, deaths and marriages for legal purposes, investigate local history and compile statistics.
Viewable using the Digger program, which comes on the CD, you can search, sort, save ad print records if required.
Viewing Records: The information may be viewed with one complete line per screen or in a list mode showing one record per line. Because of the length of some name fields, the list mode is very wide and some fields overlap on the screen. Field boundaries may be dragged to expose or cover some of the data fields.
Sorting Records: Search results may be ordered alphabetically or chronologically, in ascending or descending order. Sorting on most fields is possible.
Data Export: Search results containing 200 or less records may be exported to printer or disk. In the list most the long fields result in wrapping of the output at the printer. Portrait format is recommended, the data being wrapped over three lines. Output to disk may be manipulated in a word processing programme, or converted to a spreadsheet or database.
Extensive On Screen Help: is provided for the DIGGER software and the database, including some explanatory and supplementary information. An on-screen tutorial for the DIGGER software is also included.
Searching for Records: Searching for a record is done from a query screen on which limited or detailed information about any field may be used. Simple or complex searches may be undertaken, and wild cards may be used in any field.
