Toowong Cemetery is the largest cemetery in Brisbane. It was opened on 5 July 1875 though several burials had already taken place prior to this. Though all plots had been sold by 1975 regular burials still take place in family plots and a columbarium has been established.
'Toowong Cemetery Monumental Inscriptions' index is an index to all the monumental inscriptions in Toowong Cemetery, as transcribed by the Queensland Family History Society between 1983 and 1987. It allows direct searching of the index on name, and keyword searching on words from the inscriptions with QFHSdatasearch.
As well as the index, images of the inscriptions are included on the CD for display of the actual wording, with all associated names.
QFHSdatasearch is a generic interface designed to search genealogy databases and developed by the Queensland Family History Society. This version features field oriented and keyword searches, Boolean selection, sorting and wildcard searches.
