This index lists 2052 entries for arrivals of passengers at Port Phillip and
other Victorian ports, throughout the year 1846.
The contents of this index have been compiled from State Records New South
Wales sources and were compared with ship arrivals that were reports in the
'Port Phillip Herald'.
The index lists the name, age, ship, status (master, crew member is named,
passenger, or other person), date of arrival, departure ports and remarks. The
remarks include information on the type of ship, the arrival port if it was not
at Port Phillip, native county and county, and occupation. The remarks also
include whether the passengers are a visitor to the colony only, or if they
intend to become a settler.
