The 1926 Orkney Almanac and Country Directory contains a detailed country
directory which includes a list of the Justices of the Peace for the Orkney
District. Kirkwall and Stromness Trades Directory, and an Orkney District
Directory are also to be found. These list the name, address and occupation of those within the county.
An Orkney Almanac is also included. It contains interesting
information such as 'Old-time Wrecks at Stromness', weather information, whaling and more. The book conclueds with about 30 pages of advertisements, which provides fascinating reading in itself. This is a wonderful guide which can be used to find people who lived and/or worked in Orkney in 1926, but also to find out more about the county as it was in this era.
