With over 1200 pages and published in 1913, this CD covers prominent Norfolk families and describes their coats of arms and family links.
Arranged alphabetically by surname, each entry ranged from a paragraph to several pages in length. Many include dates, marriage details, and places born for several generations. Some include titles and occupations as well.
Example entry:
HAMMON [Hamond] of Upton. A Visitation family of Upton and Ellingham (q.v.). See Harl. Visit., p. 144. They bore Or on a chevron sa. three birds. arg.
John Hammon of Upton married Mary Cary, and had
John Hammon of Ellingham, married Joan, d. of
John Appleyard of Dunston, and had
John Hammon, who married Ursula, d. of William Cuddon of Suffolk, and had
William Hammon.
In 1635 John Hamond, gent., was party to a fine in Ellingham, as was Thomas Hamond, gent., in 1654. I should think this a branch - possibly the origin of the Westacre family, as they were entitled to armes before the latter.
