What began as a reunion for past 1950s students of Modbury Primary School back in 2014, has now resulted in a book of photographs and memoirs preserving at least a part of the history of this small school in Adelaide's north east.

This 80 page book is divided into three sections:
- an old scholars biographical register
- old scholars memories of school days
- Modbury Primary School and class photos

The Modbury Primary School officially came into existence in May 1877 and started with an initial enrolment of 9 students. In 1881 a new Modbury schoolroom and adjoining teacher's residence was built on land donated by Mr R.S. Kelly on Montague Road, near the corner of Reservoir Road. In 1883 the average attendance at the school was 29 students, and in 1955 it has increased to and average of 56. It was early 1960s that saw an explosion of enrolments, and the need for a new bigger school.

This history looks at the school and students that made up the school during the 1950s, before the move to the big new school.
