This is the Melvin family in Scotland, and it takes the reader back into the 1700s in the farming areas of Aberdeenshire. The Melvins and Skenes and maybe the Coutts, Rennies, Cantlays and Cruickshanks too, lived on farms and crofts in the country area north of the River Don, probably for many generations.
