The CD contains enlarged photographs of a 250 page manuscript history of the Hamersley and Hammersley families, including their origins in Staffordshire, their descent from the founder of the family, Hugo le Kinge, and the descents of some of the main branches of the family, including those of Botham, London (Hammersley), Oxfordshire and America down to 1894, as written by relatives and members of the family.
The American branch of the family are those descended from William Hamersley (d. 1752) of New York including further branches in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia.
Please note that the CD consists of photographs in JPEG format of an original hand-written manuscript document and although the photographs are substantially enlarged, the text may not always be fully readable. JPEG is a standard format that can be viewed in your browser or the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer that is part of Windows XP.
