Edited by J.P. Earwalker, and published 1891-1892, this important set of Constables' Accounts for Manchester is full of detail about local law and order, punishment of vagrants, passes to travel to parish of settlement, etc. Hundreds of names are included. These include names of whores, vagrants whipped, plus lists of the inhabitants of Manchester in the years 1648, 1651, 1659 and 1666.

This set is thought to contain the oldest surviving Constables' Accounts in England.

Over 1000 pages of information. Very useful for family history and local history.

High quality scanned images of the whole of each of the the original books. This CD has been bookmarked for easy navigation, and pages can be searched, browsed, enlarged and printed out if required.
