This CD contains two separate collections relating to the history
of the MacLean family. One is a book, and the other a collection of papers.
Included are:
- 'Renaissance of the Clan MacLean, Comprising also a History of Dubhaird
Caisteal and the Great Gathering on August 24, 1912', by J.P. MacLean. This is
an extended history of the MacLeans, with much information on the clan in the
US, an giving a detailed account of the revival of the clan in the late 19th
and early 20th century.
- 'Papers Relating to the MacLeans of Duart, 1670-1680', from 'Highland
Papers'. This is an account of the branch of the family long allied to the
Donalds, and thus, in the 17th century, in disagreement with the Campbells.
These are numerous papers, legal documents, letters, and estate records
relating to the MacLeans and to their dispute with the Campbells.
