First published in 1984, this book comprises transcriptions of tombstones located in the Young General Cemetery in Canberra, recorded by members of the Heraldry and Genealogy Society of Canberra. This second edition includes corrections and updates as at August 2004.
On revisiting the cemetery in 2004, it was found that a number of those which had their details recorded in the first edition, have since suffered deterioration or vandalism, and in some cases are no longer standing. Thanks to the Heraldry and Genealogy Society of Canberra members, we are fortunate that there is still a record, even in the memorial is damaged beyond reading, or repair.
Please note the transcripts are not a word-for-word transcript. General wording such as "in memory of" or "rest in peace" has been omitted. All names, dates and other relevant genealogical information has been included.
