For those of you who either don't have access to the internet, or don't wish
to pay for viewing the census online, (but do still wish to look at original
census records), don't forget that you can always buy them on CD or DVD-ROM. The
bonus with this is that you've then got them for whenever you need to look
something else up in the future.
Previously released on CD-ROM, but available now for the first time on
DVD-ROM is the Lancashire 1851 Census, which comes as a set of 5 disks. These
contain high quality images of the census books digitised from the microfilm.
Please note: Censuses are organised by Registration Districts, which DO NOT
necessarily correspond with county boundaries. A set of census records may omit
some places within a county, and/or include places from adjacent counties.
Link to street indexes to browse the areas and streets where your ancestors possibly lived. The DVD-ROM
set covers the whole of Lancashire as it was in the 1851 Census. Features of
this set: the ability to magnify an area to see further detail, and print the
current page. There is also a place name index included, to help you find which
DVD you should be looking at.

Please read carefully: If the CDs are for use in a Society, Group or
Public Library you will need a library licence, this price is five times the
full retail price. You will then be issued with a library certificate for the
product. The publishers terms do not allow users to publish their products or
extracts on the internet. Also terms also exclude using these products to
provide a lookup service, or selling disks of sets individually.
