With eight, very attractive, full page illustrations. This work was first published in 1879, some six years after the letters were written, and is a record of pioneer life, travels and settlement in the Rocky Mountains.
These letters, as their style sufficiently indicates, were written without the remotest idea of publication ... and are a record of very interesting travelling experiences, and of a phase of pioneer life which is rapidly passing away. The whole book makes absolutely fascinating reading, as it is an incredibly observant insight into life in the western USA, from California, through Utah and then (the majority of the book) Colorado.
