The census data on this disc has been compiled from the microfilm of the 1851 census of Kinross-shire. Before 1891, the county of Kinross contained the complete parishes of Cleish, Kinross, Orwell and Portmoak, part of Fossoway (the rest was in Perthshire), part of Forgandenny (the rest was in Perthshire) and part of Arngask (the rest was in Perthshire and Fife). In
1891, there were changes to the parish and county boundaries. Various parts of
Kinross-shire were added to or removed from both Fife and Perthshire. From then
until 1974, the county contained the complete parishes of Cleish, Fossoway &
Tulliebole, Kinross, Orwell and Portmoak.

from 1891 to 1974, plus those parts which were in the county in 1851.
