Ships of the Inland Rivers has become a classic reference work on the topic
of vessels on the Australia rivers. First published in 1987 and compiled by well
known maritime historian, Ronald Parsons, has been through numerous editions and
printings, the latest being a reprint of the third revised edition, which
records details of nearly 600 vessels from 1853 when William Randell placed the
first steamer on the Murray through to the present.
Following the release of the each edition of the 'Ships of the Inland Rivers'
the author received a large number of correspondence, offering additional
information on ships that were listed, and others that weren't.
Over time the author has tried to verify all of these queries, but
unfortunately some were impossible to verify. Those that were able to be
verified have been included in this new book. So this is simply an additional
volume to 'Ships of the Inland Rivers' with new information.
