This CD covers changes of name in the UK and Ireland from 1760 to 1901. If you can't track down a name it is possible they decided to change it. This CD could put you back on track.
The sources used in the CD book include: Change of Names by Royal Licence, London and Dublin Gazettes, Private Acts of Parliament, The Times, By Depole and the Heralds' college. This document is searchable as well as listing the names alphabetically. Note: Changes of name were formerly almost, if not entirely confined to the surname, but of recent year there have been a number instances of change of Christian name/s. Each entry gives the former name and the name changed to, as well as the date changed.
