These Registers cover some Prison Book records 1816-1866 for Millbank, Pentonville, Portland, Newgate and or the hulks Defence and Stirling Castle, York and Retribution.
The index includes prisoner's name (and any aliases), reel number, piece number, age, place of conviction, date of transfer from the prison or hulk to a different destination, which may be Western Australia, New South Wales, Tasmania, Victoria, Norfolk Island, another country, or any other place or prison in England. Deaths in prison or discharged are also given as the ‘destination'.
