This fascinating collection of old photographs contains many images of Trowbridge never before published in book form. Included is a rare picture of a tailor sitting cross legged on a table, nineteenth century shops and industries and a good series of industrial pictures. For the first time the creation of a street in the town centre is portrayed.

The photographs show a world which has changed out of all recognition in less than a hundred years, although many buildings remain little changed to act as backdrops to the varied life of the townspeople. Important events are recorded, but there are many more everyday scenes of people going about their normal business. This is an incredible photographic record for all interested in the area.
