Anyone researching family in England and Wales has been eagerly awaiting the
release of the 1911 census. Now that it is here, together with this book you can
learn to get the most of the information provided.
The 1911 census is a massive set of records (2 kilometres of shelving - more
than 12 times the size of the 1901 census), with over 8 million schedules
containing 36 million names. The 1911 Census is rather different from the
1941-1901 censuses, as each schedule consists of a household. This was done in
previous censuses, but then the information was transcribed into Enumerators
Books, and the originals destroyed. With the 1911 we still have the originals
written by the householders.
The aim of this book is to help you get the best from the website of the
newly released 1911 census for England and Wales.
