Now available on CD for your own copy, is the Hertfordshire 1861 Census, which comes as a set of 3 CDs. These contain images of the census books digitised from the microfilm. Link to indexes to browse the areas and streets where your ancestors possibly lived. The Hertfordshire CD set covers the whole of the county as it appears on the 1861 Census fiche. ONLY the places that are part of the Hertfordshire Census Registration Districts, which
DO NOT correspond necessarily with county boundaries.
Features of the CD set are: the ability to magnify an area to see further detail, print the current page, alphabetic street index for larger towns, and searchable area indexes. A full list of areas covered by the county of Hertfordshire is in the PRO Class List.
