for potential emigrants.
This small, but very useful, book tells the history and current state (as at 1858) of the colony very concisely. It mentions the convict period, the geography and description of the country, climate,
political institutions, revenue and finance, population, society, education, productions and exports, minerals and agriculture. The sale of land regulations are also included.
