William came to be a missionary to the aborigines. This goal was only partly carried out, but he and his family his play a significant part in early church life in South Australia. His descendants have left their mark in commerce, farming, engineering, administration, science, medicine, law, exploration, public service and many other fields.
William's memoirs (included in this book) are a valuable record of pioneering life in South Australia from 1837. Includes family trees, many illustrations and index of names. (Ambrose, Champion, Cornish, Nickels, Randell, Richardson, Shoobridge).
