The Family Tree Maker 2012 includes a most requested and anticipated FTM feature ever ... the automatic synchronize between your Family Tree Maker database on your computer and your Ancestry Online Family Member Tree. Perfect of course if you are (or intend to be) a user of both.
Once you link your desktop and online trees together, you can update either tree and then synchronize those changes into the other tree - manually or automatically - using your internet connection.
The Sync works automatically at the open or close of the program, or you can manually request a sync using the Sync Now button.
Other new features in FTM 2012 are:
1. TreeSync - Ability to synchronize your tree between FTM and Ancestry.
2. Blended family view - Easily show all of the children for two spouses whether they are children of one or both of them.

- Show generation labels
- Add text anywhere on a chart
- Option to limit descendant chart to the direct line between two people

- Custom fact sentences (used in genealogy reports & Smart Stories

- Research notes report changed to "Notes Report" with options to include
other types of notes
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE
FAMILY TREE MAKER UPGRADE?
The upgrade applies if you have a copy of any previous version of Family
Tree Maker (US, UK or Aus editions - right back to version 1). For this special
pricing we will require evidence of purchase - copy of receipt, a copy (or scan)
of original program disk, or other evidence. If purchased from Gould Genealogy
we should have a record of the purchase, but it is helpful if you indicate an
approximate date of purchase.
FOR USERS OF FAMILY TREE
MAKER VERSIONS 1 TO 13 (version 2005) PLEASE READ ...
There is a problem with going from older versions to the 2012 version of Family
Tree Maker. What you can do is download the 2005 version of Family Tree Maker
and this will act as a go between allowing you to import from your earlier
version and then export to a format that 2012 will accept. Details of where to
download the 2005 version will be posted out with the Upgrade.
