Deaths in South Australia and the Northern Territory were published in the South Australian Government Gazettes from the early days of settlement. The majority of names in the list have been compiled from police returns, including Police Mortuary Returns. The returns were stated to include all persons without relations, known or resident in SA or NT, who died, or were found dead in any public place and about which the police could furnish any information. The reports also include references to inquests.
Listing over 5000 entries, these names have been matched to gazette years and pages.
