in 1903, this volume is one in a set of six volumes which covers the whole
of New Zealand. Each contains biographies of many of the locals, and not just
the more well-known ones, but also a history of the region, and the businesses
that made it what it is.
From professional to tradesmen in the Canterbury region, they are listed
here. Entries range in length from a paragraph or two, to several pages.
Information on suburbs and their leading citizens are also covered. You will
also find information on the government, societies, groups and institutions,
charities, education system, ecclesiastical, social and musical scenes. The
newspapers, legal, medical, banking insurance and those from the commercial
scene (including shopkeepers, grocers, laundrys and more) are all included,
along with those associated with them.
Regions covered include the suburbs of Christchurch, the suburbs of Canterbury, Northern suburbs, and Banks' Peninsula.
