Cambridgeshire's roots lie in its villages. Despite the changes brought about by the age of the motor car, the villages still retain their character and charm and are a source of pride and delight to both local people and visitors.

Towards the end of the 1980s Women's Institutes across the county set about the task of recording the history, atmosphere, and anecdotes, people and events of over 160 of their villages. The notes and illustrations were then collected into a book ('The Cambridgeshire Village Book'), which the Cambridgeshire Federations of Women's Institutes have now revised, updated and expanded for this new edition.

The villages of Cambridgeshire in the twenty first century continue to flourish and prosper and this book will be a welcome companion to all with an interest in the county.
