First published in 2002, and now updated and released as a second edition, this brilliant map features a political world map showing all the conflicts in which Australians have been involved, differentiating the conflicts by colour-coded boxes and inside the boxes are the units involved in these conflicts.
The map is framed by depictions of medals of the Australian Armed Forces, Campaign, Service and Medals of Valour. All this information required extensive research and could not have been completed without the assistance and co-operation of the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. There is a also a listing of Victoria Cross Laureates, and Australian Peacekeeping Operations from 1947 to 2005.
The final step that really distinguishes this record is on the reverse side of the map. This features the complete Honour Roll of Australians who have fallen in battle. Yes, a complete list of 102,000 names laid out alphabetically within the various conflicts. This map means that we really can appreciate what our forefathers have contributed so we really know and understand what we should never forget. Note, to read these names you will need a very good magnifying glass.
