Addington is now a suburb of the London Borough of Croydon, forming part of the border between Kent and Surrey on the south-eastern edge of the town. The author's research had revealed a wealth of information on the early Norman church, the two manors recorded in Domesday Book and the subsequent story of the lords of those manors. The farmers, the 18th century Cricket Club and its cricketers, and the ordinary folk who lived and worked in Addington right up to the dramatic changes of the 20th century and the impact of two  World Wars, all are woven into this compelling narrative.
